Anna-Lee Robertson is an Australian singer, theatre maker, creative producer and vocal educator whose career spans more than twenty-five years across music theatre, opera, cabaret, concert performance and
original Australian work.
Recognised for her rich lyric soprano, captivating storytelling and infectious warmth, Anna has built a reputation for creating performances that are both musically outstanding and deeply human. Whether performing on an international stage, in an intimate cabaret venue or developing new Australian works, she brings extraordinary artistry, humour and emotional honesty to every performance.
After graduating from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Music (Voice), Anna established herself as one of Australia's leading crossover performers before completing a Master of Music Therapy, a qualification that continues to inform her collaborative and audience-centred artistic practice.
Her professional music theatre career includes performances with Cameron Mackintosh, Disney Theatrical Productions, Gordon/Frost Organisation, Victorian Opera, Melbourne Theatre Company and The Production Company. She appeared in both the Australian and West End productions of The Phantom of the Opera, and performed in Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Australian production of Mary Poppins, opening the Sydney season as Miss Andrew. Other theatre credits include The Light in the Piazza, Happy End, The Silver Donkey, Side Show Alley, Man of La Mancha, The Wizard of Oz and Annie.
Alongside her theatre career, Anna has enjoyed an extensive concert and cabaret career, performing throughout Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States. She was selected as a Showcase Artist for the Sydney Cabaret Convention, was Principal Soprano aboard Cunard's Queen Mary 2, performed in Scotland's celebrated Fingask Follies, and was invited to attend the prestigious
Cabaret Conference at Yale University.
In recent years Anna-Lee has become increasingly recognised for creating original Australian performance works that combine exceptional singing with heartfelt storytelling. Her acclaimed one-woman show After Birth, which she wrote, produced and performs, explores the realities of motherhood with honesty, humour and remarkable vulnerability. Following performances at Melbourne Recital Centre and regional venues throughout Victoria, the work has been praised for its vulnerability, wit and emotional resonance, with audiences describing it as "breathtaking", "profoundly relatable" and "an unforgettable theatrical experience."
Together with broadcaster and performer Gorgi Coghlan, Anna co-created Songbirds, a joyful celebration of a lifelong friendship told through glorious harmony, sparkling humour and timeless songs. Premiering to a sold-out audience before touring venues around Australia, Songbirds has become a signature work, celebrated for the duo's effortless chemistry,
storytelling and musical artistry.
Anna is also developing Home Sweet Home – The Great Australian Songbook, an original theatrical concert celebrating Australia's musical landscape through iconic songs, personal stories and a heartfelt exploration of belonging, place and identity.
Her performance career includes collaborations with festivals and arts organisations including Arts Centre Melbourne, Geelong Arts Centre, Melbourne Recital Centre, The Port Fairy Spring Music Festival, McClelland Sculpture Park and Art Gallery Music Series, Festival of Voices Hobart and Noosa Alive! She has shared the stage with many of Australia's finest artists and is equally passionate about developing new Australian work as she is about interpreting beloved repertoire.
Beyond the stage, Anna is a highly respected vocal educator and mentor. She has worked extensively with professional performers, emerging artists and young singers as a specialist voice teacher at Geelong Grammar School and as Vocal Director for productions including Les Misérables, Wicked and The Pirates of Penzance. Her teaching is grounded in a belief that every voice has the capacity to communicate, connect and transform.
Anna is united by a deep commitment to storytelling. Through music, humour and compassion she creates performances that celebrate friendship, family, resilience and the shared experiences that connect us all.
